This week we officially got Power Supply rolling in LA with a collection of awesome new chefs from that community, bringing the number of independent food talents we work with from coast to coast to eleven (any Spinal Tap fans in the house... picturing Christopher Guest describing how his amp volume goes to 11?).
[Geezer programming note… if you haven’t seen Spinal Tap… do it, do it now.]
So why are we pumped? Bringing great tasting, good-for-you food to folks in another city like LA is a cool organizational milestone for sure. And for any of you traveling folks out there, heads up that you can now get tasty meals from us in either place… same ordering flow both places.
But what really gets our volume turned up is this further support for our nutty notion that a network of independent local chefs can fuel communities of active folks with a mix of variety and simplicity you just can’t get any other way.
More talented chefs are coming to the chef network on both coasts so the 11 number will soon give way. To mark the moment we thought we’d share 11 things we love about this collection of food talents for bringing you freaking great food, aka FGF:
- Every chef brings their own special sauce to the taste bud table
- From culinary school grads, to former punk rockers, diversity abounds
- People from a community, making food for that community
- You can’t outrun food boredom with more menu items from a single source
- It’s a smaller batch life this way
- Myriad styles, shared values
- Small business building is a beautiful thing, and these folks are builders
- With all these perspectives, we’re constantly learning anew
- One chef’s fish, is another’s roast, is another’s portobello
- Individually pursuing their passion, together covering the menu spectrum
- Great food is a creative act, and we heart creators
Again, a hearty welcome to our LA friends. And to our DC-MD-VA brothers and sisters... heads up that yet more chefs and tastes are on the way. In closing, may whatever life dial you’re focused on this week…go to 11.
