Musings on eating + moving

Staff Dishes On Favorites

Posted by Erin Ryan on Apr. 11, 2016

Remember the staff picks list at your neighborhood video store? Often quirky, sometimes surprising and in any event a helpful shortcut when the choice muse just wasn't with you.

Well we've been writing down some of our personal faves, along with additional color on how we like to consume them, and wanted to share. A lot of these are frequent flyers on the menu, so hope they give you a good shortcut when you need it. Sprinkled a little quirk and surprise in there too. The Aristotle and Rousseau references are promising in that regard.

DC/MD/VA  FAVORITES

Indonesian Basil Curry is it weird my first thought when I hear the lid pop is to drink the sauce? Hasn't come to that yet but it could happen. I mean, I can see why this meal is a fan fave, the peas are crunchy, the carrots cooked perfectly and the curry flavor spot on (huge curry fan/critic). For time-sake, I enjoy it warmed up in the microwave (more of a saute gal around dinner time) I'm usually noshing this one from my computer while looking out the window at the neighborhood haps and answering questions from our customers.
 Tammy - CS Leader

Chicken Tagine Salad is freakin gooood. Favorite place to enjoy it: sitting on a rock during a hike. Least favorite place I enjoy it (but maybe the most valuable): on a plane flying cross-country.
 Patrick - Founder & CEO

Spanish Frittata I love it! I generally eat PS for breakfast and lunch, so whenever it's on the menu I stock up during the week. THOSE BRUSSELS SPROUTS!! Favorite place to eat them: On the couch in PSHQ next to the fire after an early morning yoga sesh. It's a whole routine.

Buffalo Chicken Salad I could eat the buff chick salad 3x a week. I like to eat things that are cold which is why I like it - pop open and eat. My kind of meal. For the record, also really dig the Spanish Frittata.
Chris - Growth + Visibility Mastermind

Also in favor of the Buffalo Chicken and now that we've added in the "spice it up" option. I mix in the extra spicy sauce, stir it up and chow down cold. No other changes or prep. Easy and tasty!
 Steve - Ops Maven, DMV

Beef Breakfast Burrito I'm all about it (breky, lunch, dinner, I'll eat it whenever). Shout out to Chef Rachelle! I spread a lil ghee on the top and bottom, plop it on a cookie sheet, stick it in the oven @ 350 degrees and let the magic happen. I flip it after about 10 min, and let the underbelly warm up for another 10. Crispy wrap perfection makes this burrito so on point.

SoCal Favorites

Buffalo Chicken Salad w/ Cumin Slaw my go-to especially as a mom on the run. Love that it requires no heating, the burst of white raisins give it some sweetness and well...it's just YUM you gotta try it.

Caught COHO Salmon w/ Bok Choy & Cauliflower Rice The SALMON on this dish is fresh, moist and perfectly grilled ****every time****! The cauli rice is always on point and the bok choy has a really nice smoky flavor from the toasted sesame oil. I LOOOOOOOVE toasted sesame oil. I usually add some fire roasted jalapenos for some major heat and a few squeezes of lemon for acidity. The basil scallion sauce that comes with is DELISH! (I'm a pescetarian so naturally I'm happy it frequents the menu).

Me too! I love the Wild Salmon w/ Bok Choy and Cauli Rice and you'll know why it's a fave when you experience the melt in your mouth salmon. Good cold or warmed up. That cauliflower mash is addicting too so fair warning.

SF Favorites

Apple Roasted Chicken w/ Moroccan Cauliflower Rice, really simple dish with a lot of flavor and pop to it. I enjoy being surprised by simplicity. Makes my job super exciting. For example, I love when I receive a test meal from a chef and the meal looks simple then I taste it and wow, our chefs are mega talented when it comes to flavor.
 Bill - Culinary Manager, SF

Bacon Marmalade Meatloaf w/ Green Beans & Sweet Potato Mash by Salt & Honey, I really love the balance of sweet & salty plus it's visually pleasing too so its kind of a double experience for me. Super yummy with the red sauce, green beans and orange sweet potatoes.
 Audrey - Geo Expansion Support

Ethiopian Beef Tibs w/ Chopped Spinach & Hearts of Palm Purée a meal I find particularly tasty. No particular prep practice here I guess like most unmarried 37 yr old men, I pop the lid off, microwave, and eat it standing up whilst perusing Aristotle’s Nichomachean Ethics, Rousseau’s “Social Contract” or “Epic Fail” videos on YouTube.
 Brian - Geo Lead

Almond Dijon Crusted Salmon and you'll know why it's a fave when you experience the melt in your mouth salmon. Good cold or warmed up.

 TaoTao - Ops Maven, SF
