Tailoring Ingredients During a Challenge (or Anytime)

This time of year lots of folks are thinking anew about what they eat, trying new ingredients, removing others, maybe jumping in on a nutrition challenge to add some structure to their cause.

So beyond the DIY resources we love sharing from our own cooking exploits and those of chefs in the Power Supply network, we thought it’d be helpful to share a few tips for how our site and meals can make your ingredient shifting easier:

  • Easiest: Browse the in/out list for each of our meal lines and pick the one for you – We provide a “what’s in and what’s out” overview for each of our three lines (Mixitarian, Paleo, Vegetarian) so you can quickly evaluate the fit with your game-plan and pick the menu that fits best. Our Paleo line tends to be most challenge-friendly since those meals exclude natural sweeteners, wine, or grains which folks are often asked to avoid.
  • Pretty darn easy: Modify the menu you choose to avoid/include certain ingredients – With the Mod Your Menu tool on our site you can go a step further and customize your placed order, pulling in meals from any menu we offer, no matter what you start with. With nutritional info online for every meal, it’s easy to gander at ingredients and macro breakdowns to juke around the menu as you wish.
  • Leave it to us easy: Set up standing substitutions and we’ll adjust the menu for you When setting up your order check out our Order Substitutions options. You’ll find a list of common preferences and ingredient substitutions. If what you’re looking to sub for is on the list, we’ll automatically swap out meals that contain those ingredients and swap in meals that don’t.

You may also want to evaluate right-sizing your meals for your goals in terms of overall calorie and protein intake by adjusting your meal size down or up. And of course, reach out anytime with questions and we’ll point you in the right direction. Happy adjusting.
